Servicing and inspecting hoists is a key part of occupational safety. The law requires hoists with a load capacity of over 500 kg to be inspected annually by a certified inspector. At the same time, the condition of the entire fleet can be verified and costs reduced in the long run.

Inspections, servicing and quick help – this is how your hoist stays in working order

“According to the law, all hoists of 500 kg and above must be inspected by a certified inspector once a year,” says Jere Lahti, Service Manager at Tuotetekno Oy. “However, many people do not know that smaller hoists must also be inspected regularly by law, even though a certified inspector is not required for them. So it makes sense to go through the entire fleet during the same inspection visit, as regular checks prevent problems and increase safety. Lifting accessories must also be inspected annually.”

“A thorough periodic inspection of the hoist must be carried out at the ten-year mark, and we do it together with a partner,” Lahti says.

Regular inspection and servicing also provide protection from an insurance point of view: without them, the insurance company may reject a claim if damage occurs with the device or in its surroundings. Inspection and servicing are always carried out by an approved crane inspector with the necessary certificate and experience.

Lahti also emphasises fast, customer-oriented service: “We come on site quickly all over Finland and find a solution together with the customer. Our operations are transparent, and there are no hidden costs or surprises in our pricing.”

Regular maintenance extends service life and improves performance

A well-maintained hoist works reliably, and small faults can be detected and repaired before they turn into expensive problems. This saves both time and money and increases work safety.

Lahti points out that everyday maintenance is also very important. “The chain should be lubricated properly, preferably once a week, and it is a good idea to go through the maintenance instructions in the user manual. When basic maintenance is taken care of, the device does not wear out unnecessarily, and costs are saved at the same time.”

A service inspection does not only keep the device running – it can also improve its efficiency. “While we service the chains and components, we can check whether there is a need to modernise old hoists, for example with radio control,” Lahti explains.

Fast and flexible service

“We carry out all the necessary inspections regardless of the importer. GIS parts are quickly available from stock, and we can tailor new equipment to the customer’s needs,” Lahti promises.
