Description
Gebuwin manual winches for lifting and pulling cover capacities from 150 kg to 7500 kg. The Dutch company Gebuwin specialises in hand and electric winches. A hand winch is used for lifting, pulling, tensioning and positioning, and it needs no power supply, so it suits sites without electricity, occasional lifting or a back-up for a powered system.
All models comply with EN 13157. A load pressure brake with double ratchet holds the load in place when the crank is released. The load is lowered by turning the crank in the opposite direction.
Spur gear manual winches TL and CW, 150–1500 kg

A spur gear transmission is efficient: the lifting speed is higher and less force is needed on the crank. Suitable for general lifting and pulling when speed and compact size matter. TL1000, TL1500 and CW700 are IP54 rated with a closed gearbox and can be mounted on a wall or floor. CW700 and TL1000/TL1500 also have a free spool for pulling the rope off the drum quickly.
| Model | Capacity (1st layer) | Rope Ø | Max rope storage | Lifting speed | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TL150 | 150 kg | 4 mm | 13 m | 7.3 m/min | 4 kg |
| TL300 | 300 kg | 4 mm | 35 m | 1.9 m/min | 10 kg |
| TL600 | 600 kg | 6 mm | 12 m | 1.7 m/min | 11 kg |
| CW700 | 700 kg | 6 mm | 40 m | 2.2 m/min | 13.7 kg |
| TL1000 | 1000 kg | 8 mm | 33 m | 1.2 m/min | 27 kg |
| TL1500 | 1500 kg | 10 mm | 21 m | 0.8 m/min | 27.5 kg |
Worm gear manual winches WW, 250–7500 kg

A worm gear has a natural braking effect, and together with the load pressure brake it makes the winch very safe. The drum holds a lot of rope, and the winch can be mounted in any position. Rope outlet upwards, downwards or to the rear. Typical applications include pumps, hatches, sluice gates, valves, gangways and large doors.
| Model | Capacity (1st layer) | Rope Ø | Max rope storage | Lifting speed | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| WW250 | 250 kg | 4 mm | 104 m | 1.0 m/min | 10 kg |
| WW500 | 500 kg | 6 mm | 78 m | 1.2 m/min | 13 kg |
| WW1000 | 1000 kg | 8 mm | 72 m | 0.8 m/min | 22 kg |
| WW1500 | 1500 kg | 10 mm | 41 m | 0.5 m/min | 24 kg |
| WW2000 | 2000 kg | 12 mm | 60 m | 0.3 m/min | 60 kg |
| WW3000 | 3000 kg | 14 mm | 68 m | 0.3 m/min | 78 kg |
| WW5000 | 5000 kg | 16 mm | 57 m | 0.2 m/min | 117 kg |
| WW7500 | 7500 kg | 22 mm | 72 m | 0.1 m/min | 190 kg |
2500 and 4000 kg models are also available.
Note: the capacity in the table applies to the first rope layer on the drum. Capacity decreases on the upper layers, for example WW1000 is 527 kg on the top layer. Always dimension for the full rope length.
Stainless steel AISI 316 and marine manual winches

- MR SST – worm gear winch made entirely of AISI 316 stainless steel, IP54. Capacities 500, 1500, 3000 and 5000 kg. For marine, offshore and food industry applications.
- MR C5M – marine winch 3000 and 5000 kg. Frame with three layers of C5M offshore coating (240 µm); drum, crank, shafts and fasteners in AISI 316.
- TL1000 and TL1500 are also available in AISI 304, CW700 in AISI 304 and 316.
Special models

- DW200 and DW1000 drill-driven winches – operated by crank or cordless drill (max 650 rpm). A flexible coupling absorbs drill vibration, and DW1000 has automatic worm gear lubrication. A good solution when there is no electricity but cranking becomes heavy.
- TW300 and TW300L theatre winches – compliant with EN 17206, two load pressure brakes, safety factor 8, grooved drum and pressure roller. For stages, lighting and interior construction.
- Pulley-Man – lightweight drill-driven winch, see Pulley-Man mini winch.
Finishes and options
Standard finish is one layer of grey paint RAL 7035 (60–80 µm). Depending on the model, also available zinc-plated (6–8 µm), with two layers of C3M paint (120–160 µm) or in stainless steel.
- Two-compartment drum for two ropes
- Grooved drum and pressure roller for even spooling
- Free spool, also with brake, for pulling applications
- Floor mounting
- Drum for 50 mm webbing belt
- ATEX version for zones 2 and 22
Accessories
Rope and pulley blocks are available from the same manufacturer, so the whole package is compatible. Pulley blocks painted 150–7500 kg and stainless 150–6500 kg. Steel wire ropes galvanised or stainless 4–22 mm, also Dyneema fibre rope. The winch can be supplied with the rope already wound on the drum. Instead of the crank, an AM5000 air motor (ATEX) or EM5000 electric motor (230 V) can be fitted, making lifting about three times faster than by hand.

Choosing a manual winch
Tell us the load weight (pulling force for pulling), the travel distance, whether it is lifting or pulling, and the operating environment. We dimension the winch, rope and fixings as one package. A winch intended for pulling is not used for lifting without checking.
If you need a portable lifting point, see also Gebuwin portable davit cranes. For electric winches, see Teknowinch lifting winches.
Frequently asked questions about manual winches
Which should I choose, spur gear or worm gear?
A spur gear winch is faster and lighter to crank, with a capacity of up to 1500 kg. A worm gear winch is slower but carries up to 7500 kg, and the drum holds more rope.
Can a manual winch be used for both lifting and pulling?
Yes. All models comply with EN 13157 for lifting and pulling. For pulling, dimension by pulling force, not load weight.
Is a manual winch suitable for outdoor use or near seawater?
Yes, when the right material is chosen. For outdoor use zinc-plated or C3M painted; near seawater the stainless MR SST or the marine model MR C5M.
